Aalst is ideally located between both Brussels and Ghent, but certainly has plenty of sights in itself. Definitely worth seeing: Grote Markt van Aalst, Belfort, schepenhuis en gebedshuisje, statue of Dirk Martens, carnavalsmonument, Ondineke, sstatue of Louis Paul Boon, Adolf Daens birthouse, Sint Martinuschurch where Priest Daens was baptized.
